Managed services keep everything we build watched, fixed and improved. A custom project is a single build, quoted up front, with ongoing upkeep only if you add managed services.

Forward-deployed engineering means an engineer works inside your business and your systems, building what your business needs, instead of selling you a product built for everyone. Large companies have used forward-deployed engineers for years. Answered Work brings the same model to small businesses as a monthly service.

What is forward-deployed engineering?

It means someone else watches the AI and automations your business runs on, fixes them when something changes, and keeps improving them. With Answered Work's managed services you never have to think about what we built; it just keeps working.

Forward-Deployed Engineering, Answered Work's main service, puts an engineer on your team from $1,000 a month, depending on how often you talk with your engineer on a one-hour video call: $1,000 once a month, $2,000 twice a month, $3,000 once a week, $4,000 twice a week and from $5,000 full time. Full time means an engineer on your team every day, with full access to them, and the first call sets its price. How fast changes are answered depends on the engineering level: within 24 hours once or twice a month, within a couple of hours once or twice a week, and first in line on full time. Each engineering level includes managed services credit worth half its fee, so the $3,000 level covers $1,500 a month of upkeep for what we build; only upkeep beyond the credit is billed. Managed services, which keep what we build watched, fixed and improved, are priced by what we keep running: $100 a month for each simple system, $150 for each connected one and $300 for each customer-facing one. A custom project, for a single build, is one fixed price quoted in writing after a first conversation, with fixes for the first 30 days; ongoing upkeep isn't included unless you add managed services. None of the three has a setup fee or hourly billing. Monthly plans run month to month, and we recommend where to start after the first conversation.

How to use AI in a small business

The ones you already run on, such as email, your CRM, calendars, spreadsheets and your industry's software. We fit AI into the way you already work rather than asking you to switch systems.

Each client gets a private portal that shows what we're working on and what's running for them, plus regular calls. You can ask a question or send a new idea any time, without booking a meeting.

Not unless you choose to let it. AI drafts and suggests, and anything that affects your customers or how you work is approved by you first. Once you trust it, you can let routine, clear-cut replies go out on their own; anything unsure still waits for you, and one switch pauses it all.

Compliance is built into how we set things up, not added later. Calling and texting tools only contact people who gave your business permission, keep a record of that consent, stop contacting anyone who opts out, and keep to quiet hours and contact limits. Your data stays in your own accounts, and we use only what the work needs. Some rules stay with your business, such as checking Do Not Call lists before sales calls and texts. We tell you which rules apply to your industry and state, and we flag anything that needs your lawyer's review.

Only as far as you allow. You start by approving every reply, then choose which routine replies can go out on their own; anything unsure, and anything like a payment link, waits for you or your team, never for us. It only contacts leads who gave your business permission, anyone who asks to stop isn't contacted again, and your business is always the sender.
